In response to industry demand, Hogan is pleased to introduce the Hogan Safety Report -- an easy to use, intuitive and high-performing measure of safe work behavior. The Hogan Safety Report is based on 28 years of research and is designed to help companies improve productivity, reduce turnover, lower accident rates and increase team and customer satisfaction.

Applicable to a wide range of industries, the Hogan Safety Report determines a candidate's work style and overall safety orientation, assuring high-quality, safety-conscious employees.

By implementing the Hogan Safety Report, employers can expect to maximize selection procedures for hiring safer employees, as well as to help determine the extent to which their current workforce is comprised of safe workers.

American Psychologist Article:
Leadership and the Fate of Organizations

Robert Hogan, Rob Kaiser and S. Bartholomew Craig recently published an article in the American Psychologist.

The article concerns the real-world importance of leadership for the success or failure of organizations and social institutions. The authors propose conceptualizing leadership and evaluating leaders in terms of the performance of the team or organization for which they are responsible.

  The HR Personality

Hogan Director of Alliances and Partners, Ryan Ross, was recently featured in a cover story for Human Resource Executive. The article by Scott Flander states that while Human Resource leaders share many personality traits with the C-Suite, there are some key differences that could impact their effectiveness as a leader.

Hogan Assessments of Tulsa, Okla., also found several key differences between HR vice presidents and other vice presidents.

In personality tests that the firm has administered, the other vice presidents scored significantly higer in the trait "ambition", which refers to a person's drive and competitiveness and his or her passion for being in charge, says Ryan Ross, an industrial psychologist and senior consultant at Hogan.

HR leaders tend more to be team players, more interested in consensus-building, and more willing to engage in give-and-take, he says. "You're not pushing and shoving, playing the political game fighting your way to the top," says Ross. "It's not that your idea has to win, it's what's better for the organization."

But the flip side of that trait, he says, is that human resource leaders might be less willing to step up and take the topmost, harder-driving leadership role -- "they're willing to let others do that."

  International Spotlight: Dave Winsborough

Hogan's international distributor, Dave Winsborough with Winsborough Limited of New Zealand, recently published a paper on Cultures and Values. Winsborough refers to the Hogan Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) in his evaluation of how companies can better fit employees so they are less likely to leave and much more likely to enjoy their work and contribute to the firm's success.

"Organisations come in different varieties. New research shows how people and organisations can be better matched, and how better performance is the result."
