At Hogan Assessments, we are driven by the core purpose of helping people and organizations succeed using data-driven talent insights. Because our business was founded on principles of social justice and equal opportunity, implicit in this purpose is the idea that success should be accessible to all rather than a select few.

We are committed to ensuring our personality assessments can be used by anyone, regardless of ability or use of assistive technology.

The Hogan Personality Assessments

Our suite of personality assessments—the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI), Hogan Development Survey (HDS), and Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI)—is fundamental to our ability to support our clients’ talent initiatives. For this reason, our assessments are our top priority for our accessibility initiatives.

Our personality assessments are designed with usability and readability in mind. To evaluate the accessibility of our assessment portal, we partnered with a vendor called Accessible Web. This vendor employs specialists who are certified by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals. Accessible Web audited our assessments on our legacy portal, HALO, for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA.

Adhering to the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines helps provide access to our assessments for users with visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities. Content that conforms to these criteria is also more user-friendly, in general, leading to a better assessment experience for everyone.

Our Dedication to Improvement

Hogan’s approach to accessibility follows the same philosophy, Kaizen, that drives our assessment development. In the most literal sense, Kaizen means “good change,” or “continual improvement.” We strongly value quality and continuous improvement throughout every area of our business.

Like the data scientists who create our world-renowned assessments, our product and development teams create and maintain all our tools with accessibility in mind. At Hogan, accessibility is a topic of discussion every single day.

We provide continual accessibility training for staff throughout the organization. We have assembled cross-functional working groups to manage our ongoing efforts regarding accessibility and usability, as well as diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our data scientists conduct analyses comparing assessment results from our base assessment portal and our accessible assessment portal to ensure users face no disadvantages. As part of our ongoing effort, we are working toward WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across all content, not just our assessments.

While we strive for the highest degree of accessibility, we acknowledge that some users or their assistive technologies may still encounter problems. We appreciate your patience, and we encourage you to contact us with suggestions for further improvement.
