Fusion Academy, a nationwide fully accredited private middle and high school, partnered with Hogan to improve its selection process for Heads of School. Heads of School are responsible for bringing Fusion programs to communities, ensuring quality academic programs, selecting and developing staff, budgeting, and managing student enrollment and parent loyalty.

Hogan’s Talent Analytics team worked with the client to develop a scientifically valid screening tool to improve the quality of the Head of School applicant pool. Hogan identified specific competencies, characteristics, and values that predict job success. Hogan built a custom personality profile using the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI), Hogan Development Survey (HDS), and Motives, Values, Preferences Inventory (MVPI) that enabled the education company to select higher-performing Heads of School.

Critical Characteristics Assessed by Hogan

In order to build the most accurate personality profile, Hogan’s data science team determined that the following characteristics and values had the greatest impact on job success:

  • HPI Strengths – higher Adjustment, higher Ambition, moderate Interpersonal Sensitivity, higher Learning Approach
  • HDS Risks – higher Excitable, higher Cautious, higher Reserved, higher Leisurely
  • MVPI Values – higher Power, higher Altruism, higher Commerce

By incorporating the Hogan profile into the candidate assessment process, the education company was able to more effectively select Heads of School with the characteristics most important for career success.

Hogan ROI

Hogan’s research shows that by using the Hogan profile, the education company can expect to see a 29% improvement in overall accuracy, selecting 14.5% more good hires and avoiding 14.5% more bad hires.
