Hogan Celebrates Five Years of the Science of Personality Podcast

Since its first episode debuted five years ago in 2020, The Science of Personality podcast has explored the impact of personality psychology for business. Hosted by Hogan’s Ryne Sherman, PhD, chief science officer, and Blake Loepp, PR manager, the podcast has achieved more than 200,000 all-time streams and averages 1,300 streams per episode.

“Cohosting The Science of Personality over the past five years has been an incredible journey,” Sherman said. “Blake and I are endlessly grateful to our listeners for joining us along the way. Your curiosity and support have made every conversation more meaningful.”

The Science of Personality Listener Favorites

"The Science of Personality Turns 5: Listener Favorites" is a special compilation episode highlighting the most popular episode from each year of production.

The listener favorite from year one was "The Dark Side of Personality," featuring Peter Harms, PhD, professor of management at the University of Alabama. Harms discussed how the dark side of personality can disrupt relationships, damage reputations, derail careers, and destroy organizations.

The most popular episode from year two was "Personality, Leadership, and the Consequences," featuring Robert Hogan, PhD, founder and president of Hogan Assessments. The consequences of having the wrong person in charge can be a matter of life and death.

The fan favorite episode from year three was "Leadership Emergence vs. Leadership Effectiveness," featuring cohosts Sherman and Loepp. They discussed the role of personality psychology for organizations in determining who becomes a leader versus who can be effective in a leadership role.

The most streamed episode from year four (and the most streamed episode to date) was "High Potentials," featuring Christopher J. Duffy, managing partner at Hogan Assessments. Duffy addressed how organizations should identify and develop high-potential employees.

The top episode from year five was "Personality, Careers, and the Impact," featuring Allan Church, PhD, cofounder and managing partner at Maestro Consulting. Church discussed why personality assessment is critical for effective talent strategy and leadership development.
