Greater Personal Awareness Can Facilitate Performance
“Mindfulness” is a mental state achieved by focusing on one’s awareness on the present moment and calmly acknowledging one’s thoughts and feelings. Already incredibly popular in general society, this topic has gained attention in organizations wanting to improve individual and organizational performance through coaching and professional development. Hogan is researching this topic to determine how personality and values predict a more mindful mindset.
To date, our research shows that several bright- and dark-side personality dimensions predict scores on measures of mindfulness. We plan on using this information to develop a solution that organizations can use to facilitate coaching and employee development.
